EFICOR started Dungarpur Drought Mitigation & Sustainable Development Project at Rajasthan in the year 2008 in 16 selected villages of Bhil Tribes of Dungarpur and Sagwara Blocks of Dungarpur District. The activities implemented are mainly focused on drought mitigation through capacity building of the community. The project aims to bring awareness on the issue of depleting natural resources and motivate the community to tap the available resources from the government. Project components include the formation and capacity building of village development committees, Self-help groups, Adult Literacy, Agriculture and Drought Mitigation Structures. The purpose of the mid-term evaluation was to assess the growth of the project in terms of outcome indicators, measure the programme impact so far, identify lessons learned from “success stories” in the last three years, and review past activities and offer suggestions to ensure organizational direction, sustainability and effectiveness of the projects for the next phase of the project cycle. -

EFICOR has been facilitating wholistic development among the Kukna, Bhil and Varli tribal communities since 1996 and this project came to an end in March 2011. The strategy was to facilitate effective institutional linkage so that the community would be able to access their government programmes for their better livelihood in 30- villages, the poorest taluka in South-Gujarat. Project components included: Training and Capacity Development of community development committees, Agriculture, Adult Literacy, Self-help groups, and Natural Resource Development. Special emphasis of the evaluation was on finding out what has worked well, what has not; and to search for the ‘why’ answers to the above and possible alternative action in future projects. -
