The United Nations has taken its call for action on the Millennium Development Goals to world-famous Times Square in New York City.

U.N. Development Program Assistant Secretary-General Sigrid Kaag unveiled Sept. 8 a special 30-second public service announcement inviting people from all walks of life around the world to do their part in tackling global problems. U.N. Foundation Chief Operating Officer Rick Parnell and award-winning singer and television personality Kelly Rowland joined Kaag at the unveiling ceremony, which took place at the Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel.

The public service announcement was produced by GOOD in collaboration with the U.N. Foundation and the Millennium Promise. It will be aired, along with three other announcements that focus on some of the most criticial issues facing the world, on the Toshiba Vision screen located on One Times Square throughout September. The announcements can also be viewed on popular video website, YouTube.

World leaders are convening in New York this month for a series of high-level events such as the U.N. MDG summit, the U.N. General Assembly and the Clinton Global Initiative.
