Adaptation Expert - Climate Change

Our services in gender integration; training and capacity building; and monitoring and evaluation have been applied in a variety of sectors across 60 countries for USAID, MCC, USTDA, the US Department of State, and other clients.

dTS is recruiting a Climate Change Adaptation Expert to support the three-year USAID funded Global Climate Change (GCC) Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Project, which aims to support the Agency’s work to assist countries in accelerating their transition to climate-resilient, low-emissions development.

The Climate Change Adaptation Expert will provide technical leadership to the dTS GCC team on the subject climate change adaptation and, specifically, contribute to:

-       Reviewing and, where appropriate revising, the logic and associated indicators of USAID’s GCC program results framework as they relate to adaptation based on extensive review of literature and current sector practice;

-       Developing an evaluation plan to shape how and where USAID monitors and evaluates GCC programs;

-       Providing technical assistance for individual field assignments including impact evaluations, training to USAID Missions, review or revision of Mission Performance Management Plans, and/or other assignments as needed; and

-       Conceptualization and implementation of a GCC evidence summit.

Qualifications for the Position:

• Master’s degree (PhD or ABD preferred) in environmental studies, natural resource management, agriculture, development studies or related degree or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
• A record of progressively responsible work and/or research experience in climate change adaptation in technical areas of natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, democracy and governance, or related fields
• Solid technical understanding of climate change and climate change adaptation and how it is impacting regions, countries, and communities
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation of climate change adaptation projects is desired
• Demonstrated competence to assess priorities, and concurrently manage a variety of activities effectively to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality
• Strong communicator, with strong verbal, writing and editing skills
• Good problem solving skills
• Team oriented individual
