Chief of Party for Community Health Project in Guatemala

RTI is seeking Chief of Party (COP) candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded community health and nutrition project in Guatemala. The Project is expected to focus on improving quality and access to service delivery for maternal and child health and nutrition interventions at the community level.
The COP will provide strategic leadership and technical and managerial direction for the successful implementation of the project. Candidates with knowledge of MCH, Nutrition, and Community Health, and working relations and/or experience with USAID, Ministry of Health, and civil society organizations are especially invited to apply. The position will be based in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Role and Responsibilities
• Responsible for providing technical direction for community-based maternal and child health and nutrition activities under the project.
• Manage performance and results of the project, including management and oversight of the program’s technical, operational, and administrative staff.
• Serve as RTI’s primary liaison to USAID/ Guatemala, Ministry of Health, other organizations, stakeholders and program partners.
• Interface regularly with USAID on management and decision-making. Ensure that the project activities are meeting client and stakeholder expectations and that project results are proactively disseminated.
• Develop and implement annual program work and performance milestone plans.
• Ensure coordination and collaboration with other USAID/Guatemala cooperating agencies to promote technical integration of all USAID-funded activities.
• Ensure the timely and quality completion of all program technical and financial deliverables and reports in accordance with USAID guidelines.
• Directly supervise senior technical and administrative staff members.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of Masters degree in public health or an equivalent field and at least 12 years’ experience in working in the health sector in Guatemala; including extensive experience working with programs focused on MCH, nutrition, and community health.
• Prior experience managing and leading technical and administrative teams as a Chief of Party / Project Director for health projects (USAID preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with USAID, government counterparts, other funding organizations and donors, and public and private cooperating country organizations and institutions.
• Demonstrated professional excellence in health program management including experience in the following: client relationship management, developing program work plans, developing program budgets, managing program implementation, and managing technical assistance teams.
• Strong strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting expertise.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required; oral and written fluency in Spanish and English required.
