The role has overall responsibility for supporting psychosocial programming for both youth programming and CFS activities as well as capacity building of national staff. Designing and advising on appropriate protection related projects and activities through co-ordination, implementation and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Develop implementation, monitoring and evaluation plans for CFS/youth programmes with strong focus on child rights and child participation.
To develop and supervise programme staff providing line management, capacity building and performance management.
Represent Save the Children to major actors in the humanitarian sector on child protection issues, identifying opportunities to advocate Save the Children’s position on the rights of the child through exchange of information, negotiation and lobbying.
Liaise with key local and international partners, sharing programming results and building partnership.
Support the completion of funding proposals and secure funding on behalf of the country programme where necessary.
Produce high quality reports for Save the Children and donors within agreed reporting schedules. Conduct a mapping of services and local actors and initiate a referral pathway.Develop the capacity of national staff and local partners and community volunteers.
Design and implement trainings on Child rights, child protection, PSS programming and develop awareness sessions on children affected by conflict/children associated with armed groups.
Design and implement training to develop the capacity of national staff, local authorities and key members of the community.
To ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter and Code of Conduct.
To be aware and keep abreast of good practice and policy issues regarding child protection in emergencies.
To work with the Child Protection Advisor to promote good practice and develop consistent approaches and address any problems arising in the field. Ensure guidelines are in place and that training is given.
