Communications Manager

The world’s most popular international aid & development web media brand – Devex – has an opportunity for a web-savvy communications professional who gets our market.

Do you know how to create buzz in the global development community?  Do you have ideas about what kind of content aid workers are looking for?  Do you want to help build the Devex brand around the world?

Devex is seeking a bright and driven professional with a background in communications, the ability to write for the web, and an entrepreneurial spirit.  This is a full-time staff position available in our Washington, DC or Barcelona offices.  There’s lots of room for growth and compensation is competitive.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility: Communications Content

• Develop rankings, lists, and other special featured content meant to be viral and create brand awareness for Devex
• Organize events and partnerships around this content to increase buzz
• Develop content and media sponsorships and lead related content creation
• Build relationships with experts in the global development community and get them engaged in webinars, opeds, video interviews, and other content for Devex

Lead Social Media Content

• Write updates to Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn

• Use social media tools to spread Devex content and draw more readers and potential Devex members

Manage Devex Events

• Organize and manage Devex events around the world
• These include career fairs in Washington, DC and London, networking receptions in capitals around the world, and special events for Devex member organizations

Minimum Qualifications

• Communications experience
• Strong knowledge of global development
• Flair for blogging and tweeting
• Excellent writing skills
• Relevant undergraduate degree
• International travel experience and a global mindset
• Passion for issues in global aid and international development
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably within the fields of media, communications, and global development

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in the international aid & development community
• Journalism experience with highly-regarded major publications
• Experience managing events
• Network of contacts in the international development, humanitarian aid, and global health community

Job Location 

This is a full-time position available in the Devex Washington, DC or Barcelona offices.
