Project Summary
The Health Policy Project (HPP) aims to strengthen policy, advocacy, and governance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming in developing countries. Building capacity of government, civil society, and other partners helps ensure that host countries are at the center of decision-making for their health programs. This transfer of skills and leadership is central to the Global Health Initiative (GHI) and other U.S. Government (USG) efforts that recognize the importance of in-country capacity, ownership, and accountability for making a lasting impact on health policies, programs, and systems. As part of the PEPFAR Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Initiative, USAID/Mozambique has requested HPP assistance to scale-up gender-focused, community-level HIV prevention activities including GBV prevention. Under this initiative HPP will work closely with USAID/Mozambique and the FHI-360 Capable Partners Program (CAP) to strengthen the capacity of selected local NGOs to integrate gender and GBV into their existing HIV and AIDS programs and services.
HPP is recruiting for 2-3 consultant positions.
Position Summary
Period of Performance: November 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012
Level of Effort: Approximately 30 days total; on call
In collaboration with HPP, the consultant will be responsible for providing tailored technical assistance, training and coaching to local NGOs to increase their capacity to integrate gender and GBV into their existing HIV prevention projects. The consultant will serve on the Technical Support Team (TST) and be responsible for providing the technical assistance using participatory methodologies, and will receive TA from HPP in this regard.
