Field Project Director (Indonesia-based)

CADG, a leading organization in engineering, agriculture and community development require experienced Field Project Director for a CIDA-Funded Local Leadership Development Program (LLD), a potential project in Indonesia.

 

The full time Canadian Field Project Manager (Canadian citizen, Canadian landed immigrant) based in Indonesia provides day to day coordination of Project activities within Indonesia and senior level technical, professional and managerial advice on Project matters to the Government of Indonesia, the UIN/IAINs, the Aid Section of the Canadian Embassy in  Jakarta, CIDA HQ, and Project personnel. 

 

Key Areas of responsibility:

 

   He/she is responsible for the overall management of LLD in Indonesia including (inter-alia):

  • Managing and/or supervising the management of Canadian and local professional personnel in implementation of work plans and achievement of results;
  • Managing the LLD office in Indonesia;
  • Liaising with key national, provincial and district level decision-makers with respect to policies and strategies;
  • Coordinating and liaising with various Indonesian stakeholders and the Development Section of the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta;
  • Participating in the preparation of the Project Implementation Plan and supervising and leading the preparation of all Project Annual Work plans and Reports (performance and financial);
  • Ensuring the effective monitoring of LLD progress and results;
  • Provision of general support and advice to the national, provincial and district counter-part personnel;
  • Coaching and developing local Project staff, as necessary

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • The candidate should have appropriate academic qualifications (minimally a bachelor's degree and ideally a Master's or PhD) and professional development (including research and publications) related to international development in areas such as democratic governance, Islamic studies, higher education, adult education and community development.
  • He/she should clearly have 7-10 years experience in:

a. Managing/directing staff in cross-cultural situations on major and complex projects;

b. Capacity building (preferably with educational entities);

c. Mainstreaming gender equality issues;

d. Experience with project performance assessment and monitoring; and

e. Communication and public relations skills ideally within an Asian context. 

f. Experience (at least 1 year) living while working in developing countries, particularly in an Islamic context, Southeast Asia, preferably Indonesia.
