Road Construction Engineer Adviser, Port Moresby | Up to 30 June, 2012
TSSP commenced in July 2007 and continues the Australian Government's long term commitment to the transport infrastructure sector in Papua New Guinea (roads, airports and ports). The Program operates under GoPNG leadership; policies, strategies, plans and systems. Under TSSP assistance is provided to strengthen the capacity of transport sub-sector agencies and in supporting the development of a sector wide approach. TSSP is seeking a suitably skilled and qualified adviser to join the dynamic team in PNG and provide expert assistance to the Department of Works.
As the Road Construction Engineer Adviser you will provide assistance to the Regional and Provincial Works Managers and staff of the Operations Division to further strengthen their skills in overseeing the implementation of road and infrastructure maintenance works in selected provinces throughout PNG.
To be considered for this role you will need to have at least 10 years experience in the supervision of road maintenance works, familiarity with contract procedures and supervision/management, understanding of financial systems, and high level interpersonal and communication skills as well as commitment to and experience applying principles relating to good governance and capacity building. Experience with overarching policy areas that include gender, HIV and AIDS, the environment/global change and/or road safety will be an advantage.
