Call for Resumes: Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for El Salvador Crime and Violence Prevention Project (CVPP)

 

Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) is a global consulting firm providing social and economic development solutions to governments, communities, and companies with projects in developing and transitioning countries.

 

DAI seeks a Deputy Chief of Party for a 5 year crime and violence prevention project in response to a USAID request-for-proposal (RFP) to be based in El Salvador. The Crime and Violence Prevention Project (CVPP) will address crime and violence prevention and reduction, national and municipal government capacity building, youth at-risk, community development and public safety in El Salvador.

 

Responsibilities:

The DCOP will report directly to the Chief of Party, will be responsible for the day-to-day technical implementation of the program and will supervise a team of Salvadoran specialists. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Serve as leader for day-to-day technical program implementation.
  • Manage a team of Salvadoran specialists, who will support the objectives of CVPP through expertise in media and public outreach, private sector engagement, information and communications technology, municipal-level crime and violence prevention, and community engagement. Support Chief of Party (COP) in articulating technical vision and developing general program design as requested.
  • Liaise with municipal government authorities.
  • Support and oversee Salvadoran partner institutions as relates to successful program implementation.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in field such as law, social work, criminal or juvenile justice, public or business administration, or community development or related field; graduate degree, such as master’s or PhD is preferred.
  • Minimum of six years professional experience with donor-funded development projects/organizations addressing: youth at-risk, crime and/or violence reduction, public safety, community development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with variety of stakeholders including senior government officials, municipal authorities, and local partners.
  • Previous experience working on USAID-funded or other donor projects.
  • Strong training, communications and personnel management skills.
  • Experience in El Salvador and/or Central America is strongly desirable.
  • Fluent English and Spanish required.
