Director of Programs, Club of Madrid
The ideal candidate is a senior professional with extensive experience in project design and management for major international governmental, inter - governmental or NGOs working in the field of democratic development and governance globally.
Working with a motivated team in a multicultural environment, the selected person will direct the Club of Madrid programming, developing and implementing a program strategy with guidance from, and for approval of, the Members of the Club de Madrid and its Secretary General.
The goal of the Director of Programs will be to take full advantage of the organization’s potential to promote democracy that delivers through effective programming.
The Director of Programs will report to the Secretary General and will perform his/her duties under the coordination of the Deputy Secretary General.
Requirements:
* Native or native-level English speaker and oral and written Spanish fluency.
* Fluency in other languages relevant to Club of Madrid programs, particularly in French or Arabic, will be an asset.
* Master’s degree or equivalent
* At least 15 years professional experience in the areas of program design and development, including major regional and international projects.
* Experience both at headquarters and in the field would be strongly preferred.
* Extensive knowledge of current international affairs, particularly in the fields of democracy, governance and international relations.
* A proven track record of leading successful efforts to raise funds for international projects.
* Excellent communication skills, including impeccable writing skills in English and very
good in Spanish, and ability to communicate program objectives and results.
* Experience in leading and managing a team, and liaising with other departments, partners, donors and stakeholders.
* Creativity to ensure program innovation for greatest impact.
* Ability to work autonomously and under pressure and under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
* Design, implement and manage a program strategy for the Club of Madrid following
the mandate of the Members and the Secretary General.
* Supervise the identification, design, proposal, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
* Identify, secure and manage the necessary human and financial resources to implement
the program strategy.
* Coordinate the selection and engagement of Members and experts involvement in the design and implementation of projects.
* Manage and supervise a team of 10-15 professionals.
* Work in conjunction with Communications staff to communicate the impact and results of programs and projects.
* Work in conjunction with Finances, Logistics, and Human Resources staff for the best
management of project resources
* Work in conjunction with Fundraising staff to ensure coordination and mutual support in the implementation of the global funding strategy of the Club de Madrid.
Working conditions:
* The Director of Programs will be paid according to his/her past professional experience
and salary history (maximum gross salary euros annually. As a Club of Madrid’s employee, the Director of Programs will benefit from Spanish Social Security and public health care services).
* The Director of Programs will work in the organisation’s secretariat in Madrid. Frequent travel will be required.
* An immediate start is envisioned.
