Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (ME&L) Director

Devex is currently assisting a leading international development organization in searching for an Monitoring, Evaulation & Learning (ME&L) Thematic Director, to be based in Addis, Ababa, Ethiopia. The candidate will work with the organization´s management to provide design and analysis of monitoring and impact assessments for its programs in Africa (focused on education and rural development).

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated candidate who has:

• A PhD in Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, Social Sciences or related field;

• 10+ years Impact Assessment and ME&L experience, preferably in or related to agricultural development and extension in Africa;

• Extensive knowledge of monitoring and evaluation principles, techniques and methods;

• Knowledge of word processing, data management, and statistical programs (e.g. MySQL, Acess, STATA, SPSS, SAS, etc)

• Understanding and skills in using ME&L and other strategic information to inform program and policy decisions;

• Strong communication skills – written and verbal;

• High level of diplomacy, communication and interpersonal skills;

• An ability and willingness to travel within the country of assignment, as well as internationally in Africa and elsewhere;

• Fluency in English, French is an asset
