The Country Director will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of IRD’s current programs, and will be responsible for representing IRD to donors, local and international NGOs, and the Government of Haiti. In addition, the Country Director will assist IRD HQ in new program development.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing all program activities including performance, monitoring, evaluation, technical assistance and training to project staff.
- In collaboration with HQ, developing new business and strategic plans for programs in Haiti.
- Ensuring continuous compliance with donor funding requirements during project implementation.
- Managing and leading IRD staff, consultants and contractors to ensure timely and efficient program implementation.
- Maintaining good working relationships with donors, the Government of Haiti, and collaborating institutions, with frequent visits to project sites and communities.
- Providing financial management of the program in collaboration with Director of Finance and HQ.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for submission to IRD HQ.
- Assisting IRD HQ in new proposal development and identifying new funding opportunities.
- Increasing IRD’s local, national and international visibility through public relations efforts in Haiti.
- Supervising improvement of HR and admin systems and adherence to field office administrative policies, oversee personnel recruitment, training and supervision
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.).
- Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts in a compelling and diplomatic manner.
- Excellent management skills to coordinate field teams.
- Capability of working under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others as well as independently.
- Ability to multi-task and balance multiple work demands on a daily basis and deliver time sensitive projects to deadlines.
- French language is very highly desirable
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7-10 years management experience in an NGO or international organization.
- At least 5 years work experience in a developing country.
- 5+ years management experience on an USAID-funded project.
- Experience in managing large USAID funded projects
- Experience in Haiti highly preferred.
