COFREPECHE, International Fisheries Consultancy Company (), urgently look for a fisheries economist, a Monitoring Control and surveillance (MCS) specialist in fisheries and a business and trade development expert in fisheries regarding a tender EU funded programme ( Technical Assistance for Implementation of a Regional Fisheries Strategy for the Eastern and Southern Africa and Indian Ocean (ESA0-IO) Region):
Duration: 30 months (Mid-Jan. 2011 - 07/2013)
Main location: Mauritus
Nationality conditions: EU or ACP citizen only (EDF rules)
Fisheries economist:
Qualification and skills:
o degree in economics at a minimum in the field of expertise
o Working language: French and English. Working knowledge in Portuguese an advantage
General professional experience:
o At least 10 years’ experience in the field of fisheries economics
o Experience of development projects, in particular projects financed by the European Union.
Specific professional experience:
o In-depth experience of Eastern & Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region in fisheries sector;
o In-depth knowledge of regional fisheries strategy and management.
Monitoring Control and surveillance specialist:
Qualification and skills:
o degree at a minimum in the field of expertise
o Working language: French and English. Working knowledge in Portuguese an advantage
General professional experience:
o At least 10 years’ experience in establishment and strengthening of MCS system
o Experience of development projects, in particular projects financed by the European Union
Specific professional experience:
o In-depth technical knowledge of Monitoring, Control and Surveillance of fishing activities and fisheries policy
o In-depth experience of Eastern & Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region in fisheries sector;
Business and trade development expert in fisheries:
Qualification and skills:
o degree at a minimum in the field of expertise
o Working language: French and English. Working knowledge in Portuguese an advantage
General professional experience:
o At least 10 years’ experience in the searched expertise
o Experience of development projects, in particular projects financed by the European Union.
Specific professional experience:
o In-depth experience of Eastern & Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region in fisheries sector;
o In-depth knowledge of regional fisheries strategy and management focus on business and trade development
Information on the Programme:
The overall objective of the programme of which this contract will be a part is to contribute to an increased level of social, economic and environmental development and deeper regional integration in the ESA-IO region through the sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources. The specific objective is to support the implementation of the ESA-IO fisheries strategy for sustainable management and development of the fishery sector.
