Gender and Value Chain/Access to Finance Specialists

Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm with offices in Washington, DC, New York and overseas.  Banyan Global is seeking mid to senior level technical specialists with expertise in gender mainstreaming as well as value chain development and/or access to finance for short-term consulting positions based overseas.  Immediate assignments may include Central Asia, Eastern Europe, West and Southern Africa.

Candidates should have at least five-eight years of experience focusing on gender dimensions of value chain development, rural development, and/or financial services/access to finance.  Specific relevant experience includes:

  • Leading/participating in selection and analysis of value chains and/or industries in which gender dynamics are a key concern in achieving competitiveness and poverty reduction objectives.
  • Providing technical assistance in specific aspects of value chain development focusing on actors for whom gender is a key constraint or opportunity, in terms of participation, upgrading, and access to benefits. This could apply to production, value addition, marketing, or supporting service provision at the firm, farm, or the industry level.
  • Addressing policy/business enabling environment issues that address gender equity in accessing value chain opportunities and benefits.
  • Increasing access to finance throughout the value chain by providing technical assistance to enterprises or financial service providers.

 

Russian and French language experience are highly desireable.
