Global Development Reporter

Do you know how to cover the global development community?  Do you have ideas about what kind of content aid workers are looking for?  Do you want to help build the Devex brand around the world?

Devex is seeking a bright and driven journalist ready to cover USAID, World Bank, and all aspects of development funding, policy, and trends from our Washington, DC headquarters.  This is a full-time staff position for a reporter who knows how to write on tight deadlines for the web, interview senior officials and aid workers alike, and become a well-regarded personality for our community of readers.

Responsibilities

Covering Global Development

• Early every morning, write our daily news briefing read by 100,000 development professionals around the world
• Cover events, interview experts, and tweet and blog daily
• Conduct video interviews on-location in Washington, DC and with subjects around the world
• Write feature articles on major development topics

Minimum Qualifications

• Journalism experience
• Strong knowledge of global development
• Excellent writing skills
• Flair for blogging and tweeting
• Relevant undergraduate degree
• International travel experience and a global mindset
• Passion for issues in global aid and international development
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with the international aid & development community
• Journalism experience with highly-regarded major publications
• Network of contacts in the international development, humanitarian aid, and global health community
• Experience with web media, including social media, video, and photography

Job Location 

This is a full-time position available in the Devex Washington, DC office.
