Humanitarian Logistics Intern

Introduction

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain a deeper understanding of the humanitarian sector. It will enable you to gain an insight into humanitarian logistics and general operational support and also understand how a busy Humanitarian Section operates.

The main purpose of the internship is to support the day-to-day activities of the logistics team, within the Humanitarian department, and to provide specific support in relation to projects and activities undertaken by the team.



Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work to deadlines and produce good quality work
  • Flexible approach to working and ability to respond at short notice to a wide variety of tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer literate and confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Experience of general administrative work
  • Experience of working in both a team and alone
  • Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian work
  • Permit to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Experience of organising or helping to organise events
  • Experience of working or living in a developing country
  • Experience of logistics
