BACKGROUND

Building on more than 30 years of international experience in more than 100 countries, the International Consulting Division of NIRAS (NIC) provides advisory and project management services for Official Development Assistance (ODA) clients worldwide. We specialize in initiatives targeting rural and agribusiness development, enhanced community and rural livelihoods, natural resource management and biodiversity conservation, institutional and organization strengthening, policy and strategic planning. We are currently seeking an International Agriculture Marketing Specialist Specialist (‘IAMS’, 4 person months) for an imminent donor-funded opportunity inBangladesh. The AMS will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Reinforce the marketing capacity of the small producers, an international marketing specialist is needed to hire who can review existing approaches and procedures, provide technical assistance and advice.
- Review and Provide technical inputs, as required, in the preparation of detailed implementation approaches and procedural guidelines for the development of rural small producers marketing linkages of selected high value agricultural produces, primarily for domestic market
- Develop guidelines for value chain analysis, conduct at least one value chain analysis of high value agricultural commodities and share with relevant stakeholders for preparing value chain development plan;
- Assist in the development of a data base on marketing and marketable high value commodities

The successful consultant will have the following qualifications and experience:
- At least a Masters Degree in rural economic development, marketing, agricultural economics or related fields.
- At least 10 years or more field experience in value chain program design and implementation of high value agricultural commodities like fruits, vegetables, flowers, livestock and fishes inSoutheast Asiacountries
- At least 20 years experience in advising government on policies and strategies, be familiar with ADB project implementation and management procedures, and have previous satisfactory experience in leadership.
- Relevant work experience inBangladeshor in the South Asian region.
