Description


Establish working relationships with the IBU head EGGI advisor for Islamic banking unit and decide which steps can be implemented immediately. Meet with DAB Governor and IBU Head to learn their priorities in the development of Islamic finance in Afghanistan and gain an understanding of what has been achieved so far.  Meet with various stakeholders to learn about their activities and priorities in the area of Islamic finance.  Advise DAB on next steps in moving Islamic Banking Law forward; Produce a master plan for further development of the sector and its regulation/supervision, including these critical components and with a proper sequencing of tasks. Train DAB staff and possibly financial institution staff (the latter may be handled by the Afghanistan Institute of Banking and Finance) on Islamic finance and financial supervision. Provide DAB with contacts and professional introductions to key individuals and institutions in Islamic finance worldwide.


 


Basic Qualifications


• Proven knowledge of Islamic banking and finance


• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or related field


• Ability to lead and take initiative in formulating and planning activities.


• Demonstrate integrity, and adaptability


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
