Chemonics International seeks a senior-level director to manage the company's overall IT project portfolio. Responsibilities include: develop program strategy by supporting business case and enterprise-wide, high-level project plans; ensure integration of projects and adjust project scope, timing, and budgets as needed; partner with senior business leaders to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing IT; collect, analyze, review, document, and communicate business needs and requirements and design solutions through direct interaction with business unit leaders; manage departmental projects to ensure they meet strategic goals and are delivered on-time and within budget; work closely with internal and external clients to develop mutual understanding of goals and possible courses of action; work effectively with staff and clients and ensure that appropriate parties are involved and engaged to achieve an integrated approach; analyze the processes of one or more business units, identifying problems and suggesting solutions that the IT department can implement; oversee the conversion of high-level business requirements into functional specifications; apply in-depth technical expertise to business analysis best practices; promote maturity, dependability, integrity, and initiative at all levels within the company; direct department operations and conceptualize new strategies to improve unit performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 10 years of IT and business industry work experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role and 4 years managing projects
- Knowledge of USAID and its operations preferred
- Extensive expertise in the use of project management methodologies and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers and measures of success for the business, and the short- and long-term direction of the business and technology
- Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
- Ability to operate at advanced levels of authority and manage significant activities, budgets, and resources to produce and take responsibility for results
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise department staff, multiple project teams, and special initiatives
- Demonstrated integrity, independent thinking, judgment, and respect for others
- Willingness to work overseas 4 to 8 weeks per year and to consider long-term overseas assignments
- Experience living or working in developing countries preferred
- Foreign language fluency preferred
