Chief of Party - Peru

DAI seeks a Chief of Party for an anticipated Forestry Project in Peru funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).  DAI works at the cutting edge of international development, combining technical excellence, professional project management, and exceptional customer service to solve our clients' most complex problems. Since 1970, DAI has worked in 150 developing and transition countries, providing comprehensive development solutions in areas including crisis mitigation and stability operations, economic and democratic governance, public sector management, agriculture and agribusiness, private sector development and financial services, economics and trade, HIV/AIDS, avian influenza control, water and natural resources management, and energy and climate change. Clients include international development agencies, international lending institutions, private corporations and philanthropies, and host-country governments.

The Chief of Party would be responsible for administering and representing a substantial, internationally funded project to achieve important policy and practical results with government counterparts in Lima, regional offices, and localities.  The COP will provide technical guidance, link the project to counterpart institutions, develop work plans, oversee implementation, create monitoring/ evaluation systems, and maintain contact with the funder.

Qualifications include:

  • Advanced degree in forestry, economics, or other social sciences related to forest communities.
  • 15 years experience in implementing internationally financed development projects
  • Evidence of knowledge of forestry, natural resource management and Amazonian regions.

Additional qualifications sought:

  • Evidence of knowledge of forestry governance, international trade, indigenous communities, eastern Peru, methods of promoting transparency, commercialization of timber.

Fluency in Spanish is required
