Job Description:

DAI is seeking an experienced project management specialist to supervise office operations and manage administrative systems for an anticipated three-year $65 million USAID-funded community livelihood project in Yemen. The DCOP will report directly to DAI's Chief of Party.

 

The DCOP will assume overall responsibility for project administration as the COP's delegated representative. This will include supervising all project administrative staff and serving as the main link between DAI Home Office project support staff and project staff in country. Specific tasks will include the following:

  • Recruiting and managing administration, finance, and support staff
  • Managing day to day project administration and operations, including IT administration and support, project inventory systems
  • Overseeing grants administration and reporting
  • Managing financial reporting to DAI and USAID and all Yemeni-based procurement
  • Ability to act as project COP in his/her absence
  • Although the DCOP's main focus will be on administration, he/she will be called upon to provide support to the technical components of the project to help staff overcome specific bottlenecks and strategies for overcoming challenges and adjusting priorities as the context dictates

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience managing complex development programs of similar scope and size.
  • Experience in Yemen is preferred, substantial Middle Eastern experience is required
  • At least 3 years experience living and working in a post-conflict and/or transitional environment is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and technical skills, fluency in English required, Arabic preferred
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of US Government regulations, administration, management, reporting procedures and systems
  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline required
  • Knowledge of DAI project management systems is a plus
