Senior Vice President, Member Relations and Development

The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria ("GBC") is a Coalition of more than 200 companies united in the fight to defeat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis around the world.  The GBC provides tailored support to members so that companies can take an active role in defeating the pandemics.  GBC also organizes collective actions among companies, and links the public and private sectors in ways that pool talents and resources.  GBC represents the private sector to the Global Fund.

GBC's expanding alliance of international companies is headquartered in New York with offices in Beijing, Moscow, Nairobi, Paris and Johannesburg.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the SVP for Membership and Development is responsible for growing GBC's corporate membership and overseeing an expansion of foundation and government grants and contracts to provide the resource base necessary to increase GBC's global impact.  A member of GBC's Leadership Team, the incumbent will work closely with other senior leaders, GBC's Board, and senior corporate and non-corporate partners in pursuit of these objectives. 

 

Responsibilities:

Membership

  • Lead the effort to expand GBC's membership from 210 to 300 companies in the next two years, focusing on recruiting new members and retaining existing members.
  • Manage a dynamic team of relationship managers who engage with our member companies on a day-to-day basis and who keep them engaged in our workplace and community health programs in the United States and around the world.
  • Support the membership expansion efforts of our regional teams in Africa, Europe and Asia.

 

Development

  • With support of colleagues, lead the effort to establish development goals and strategies.
  • Implements development strategies for corporate, foundation and other solicitations designed to secure grants in the $100K-$5M range.
  • As a member of the Leadership Team, participate fully in the annual strategic planning process.
  • Oversee a Grants Manager and contribute to that person's development.
  • Provide support to GBC's regional teams in the area of development.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Track record of success in fundraising from foundations, governments, corporations and major donors.
  • Track record of success in sales and marketing with solid Corporate Social Responsibility background preferred.
  • Self-motivated strategic thinker with a proven record of working independently and achieving results, who is also very well organized, attentive to detail and able to juggle multiple projects.
  • Recognized excellence in interpersonal, project and staff management skills; outstanding oral and written communications skills.
  • International development and health expertise preferred.
  • Strong team player and proven manager/mentor.

 

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with expertise, following the top range of international non-governmental organizations based in the USA.  Staff benefits include medical and dental insurance, and pension (eligible after 6 months).
