We have assisted farmers, food processors, agribusinesses, and cooperatives in more than 70 countries since 1981. Our approach links agricultural producers to input suppliers and to local, regional, or export markets. Currently we manage projects in more than 25 countries worldwide. Land O’Lakes draws on its extensive network of internal and external resources to provide technical assistance and training on its many international projects.
Land O’Lakes is currently receiving applications for the position of Gender Specialist in anticipation of a large, multi-year development program in Pakistan focused on creating economic opportunities for women in dairy and livestock value chains. This position will ensure integration of women into all programmatic components—from community mobilization, to smallholder dairy development, association building and strengthening.
Responsibilities:
• Work with LOL and external M&E specialists to establish gender baseline at the beginning of the project.
• Oversee development and implementation of gender integration plan.
• Provide senior-level leadership to Community Mobilization Teams comprised of dairy technical and community mobilization specialists who will be deployed at the local level to organize producer groups, establish linkages to dairy technical assistance and training, and build effective community level units to aggregate the supply of higher volumes of quality milk.
• Design training modules targeting women farmers for the purpose of improving production efficiencies and increased incomes to families.
• Work closely with program technical staff and grants management staff to ensure inclusion of women’s organizations into the small grants program.
• Serve as liaison on women’s issues for high-profile delegations from USAID and other visitors.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Experience & Education:
• Bachelors Degree in Gender, or Women’s Studies.
• Advanced degree in Women’s Studies, Agricultural Economics, Business Management, Animal Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
• A minimum of five years field and technical experience in developing countries.
• Previous experience implementing donor-funded projects.
• Previous experience working in conflict areas.
Required Competencies & Other Skills:
• Strong communication skills
• Fluent in English
Preferred Competencies & Other Skills:
• Skills in local Pakistani languages
• Dairy and/or agriculture background highly desirable.
• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience working with USAID
