Summary:

Counterpart International is currently seeking a Program Assistant to support the Livelihoods and Economic Development department/team.  The Program Assistant will assist the staff in the daily management of its programs and initiatives, which includes marketing and program development, partnership selection, project management, inter-divisional cooperation, the organization of meetings and conferences, and daily communications.  The Program Assistant will report directly to the Senior Environmental Program Manager.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in areas of responsibility which include strategic planning and execution for the whole organization as well as program marketing, development and management for the civil society division
  • Support the team throughout the proposal process, particularly with formatting documents and conducting research
  • Participate in the proposal development process as needed
  • Facilitate partner relationships as required
  • Arrange travel including obtaining visas and making hotel and flight reservations
  • Help maintain schedule of appointments
  • Complete all forms for division staff members and consultants, including purchase orders, travel authorizations, Fed Ex waybills, expense reports, and all other applicable forms
  • Provide agendas and notes for in-house meetings
  • Attend and report back on external meetings as required
  • Maintain database of consultants, department contacts and partner organizations
  • Participate in the completion of reports, letters and other necessary documents
  • Assist in any special assignments as needed
  • Support program staff with administrative tasks, particularly related to internal approval workflows
  • Other duties as assigned

 Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Development or related field
  • Prior field experience in a developing country through the U.S. Peace Corps or other affiliations is preferred
  • Familiarity with program management
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong writing skills
  • Advanced functioning in Word and Excel
  • Experience developing graphics in Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficiency in French or Spanish
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
