Maintenance Officer – Honiara, Solomon Islands – AusAID funded RAMSI Deployee Support Services Solomon Islands (DSSSI)

RAMSI is a partnership between the Solomon Islands Government, the people of theSolomon Islandsand the contributing countries of the Pacific Region to restore stability to theSolomon Islandsafter a period of internal conflict.  DSSSI provides logistical support to RAMSI staff including (but not limited to): management of vehicles, maintenance and repairs of accommodation, management of subcontracts and house leases, induction programs for new staff and demobilization services.

 

The Maintenance Officer, reporting to the DSSSI Technical Supervisor, will be responsible for undertaking, over sighting and coordinating building maintenance services under the RAMSI Deployee Support Services Solomon Islands Program (DSSSI). The Maintenance Officer’s role will be largely field based, requiring the person to work in Honiara at different suburban locations to attend and undertake domestic and office maintenance and to supervise sub-contracted organizations where  necessary.

 

To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated:

 

  • Strong background in building or building maintenance;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural skills;
  • Technical qualifications appropriate to the role and experience with IT and the ability to manage computer applications for maintenance jobs and reporting;
  • Experience working as a Maintenance Officer, builder or handyman in theSolomon Islandsand
  • Proven capacity to assess the condition of domestic buildings, domestic equipment and services, motor vehicles, physical security requirements and other related assets and the capacity to advise on the most appropriate and cost effective response.
