Malaria Program Officer

Devex is assisting a leading health nongovernmental organization in identifying candidates for a Malaria Program Officer position in Silver Spring, Maryland (USA).

This NGO works in cooperation with other groups, organizations, and donors to develop tools and strategies to improve health service delivery with a mission to support the health and socioeconomic well being of individuals and communities in the developing world.

 

Position Description:

The Malaria Program Officer will coordinate and provide technical, administrative and program development support to French-speaking West Africa and other field programs. The position is based in the Washington DC metro area with some overseas travel required. As a member of the Program Support Team (PST), s/he will assist in the provision of administrative and program development support. In addition to providing technical support for assigned field programs, the Malaria Program Officer is expected to provide technical assistance to the HQ and other field programs, in accordance with his/her individual expertise. This person also ensures the technical quality of field programs and compliance with donor regulations.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Masters degree preferably in public health or equivalent;  
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of working experience providing headquarters project backstopping support and/or field implementation of international health programs with funding from USAID (especially on malaria control), Global Fund, World Bank or other donors;
  • Experience in program development and, particularly, proposal writing;
  • Prior work experience in developing countries preferred;
  • Proficient user of standard office software. Prior experience with Sharepoint and statistical packages will be a plus;
  • Work experience in Bénin is desired;
  • Fluent/Proficient English AND French required. Candidates must have the ability to speak and write in French and English at the FSI (Foreign Service Institute) 4/4 level;
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; citizenship/work authorization is desired but not an absolute requirement.
