Summary:

The Resource Development & Partnership Outreach Manager (RD&POM) will manage a comprehensive program of fundraising, donor and foundation relations.  The RD&POM works collaboratively in a team-oriented, mission-focused environment and is responsible for the strategic development, implementation and analysis of JAM USA’s fundraising program.  Raising approximately $1.5 million annually, priorities include major gifts, and annual giving programs, as well as corporate and foundation giving.  The RD&POM also manages media and community relations, as well as fundraising efforts, e-fundraising, and event planning related to fundraising.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet organization needs.

  • Develop and execute an effective long-term fundraising strategy for the organization to ensure that it will have adequate financial resources for current and future operations.
  • Establish annual fundraising objectives and design an appropriate strategy for accomplishing them, working closely with the President.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
  • Manage foundation giving program, including overseeing the production/case development of proposals and reports to grant making institution. 
  • Ensure that appropriate staff members are involved in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Identify and cultivate new donor prospects (individual, corporate and foundation), involving the President and others when appropriate.
  • Cultivate and solicit major gifts, utilizing volunteers and other staff when needed.
  • Oversee all donor stewardship; Develops business development plans to meet JAM programming targets, outlining target clients, donors and foundations, and regions and countries.
  • Manage direct mail and targeted mail campaign; report and analyze results.
  • Manage event planning for all development related events, including one major annual fundraiser.  Attend and participate in JAM events.
  • Track and analyze charitable giving opportunities, develop and maintain an annual fundraising calendar.  Maintain accurate and comprehensive data files, including giving histories, profiles, and interations.
  • Plan and implement annual campaigns.
  • Attend board meetings to present on revenue, development and community relations activities and initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and carry over the mailing of newsletter, its content related to development and external relations.
  • Build strong relationships with key agency stakeholders including donors, volunteers, the Board of Directors, corporations, foundations and other community organizations.
  • Act as an advocate and representative of JAM, speaking knowledgeably about the work of JAM to others and maintaining effective relationships with the media and general community.
  • Manage eTapestry and is responsible for data entry and gift processing.
  • Develop creative and effective written thank you letters, donor reports and online material.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to enhance JAM’s profile in donor-oriented publications, conferences and spheres.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to identify and maximize the fundraising potential of social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Work collaboratively with all JAM staff, providing a fundraising perspective and offering ideas and support for JAM activities.
  • Update JAM’s digital profile on various online giving sites, recommend additional promising platforms, as well as contribute content for our website.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in International Development/Relations, Marketing, or related field; advance degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years increasingly responsible and successful development experience

  • Familiarity with donor funding practices, and School Feeding/Agricultural development in Africa relate nonprofits is a plus.
  • Experience using social media platforms, especially in fundraising.

Travel: Up to 60% domestic and international travel.  Must have the ability to travel on a short notice.

Physical Requirements:

Person must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.  Incumbent should be in optimal health for difficult and temporary below-basic living conditions at overseas location and for field travel in general.
