| DAI is seeking a high level professional to serve as a senior manager and market lead in DAI’s Bethesda Office to lead and grow a technical area that includes legislative strengthening, local governance, public financial management, anti-corruption, rule of law, and other areas related to the good and accountable governance of developing countries at the national and sub-national levels. This Managing Director position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations. Essential Skills for Managing Director, Governance Sector: The Managing Director must be a strong leader with excellent communications and management skills. He/she must be results-oriented with a strong business development sense and the ability to interact with clients (USAID and others), senior management and staff. He/she must be a creative problem-solver with the ability to build and manage teams, effectively delegate authority and develop employee talents. Strong budgeting, business writing and computer skills are essential. He/she has broad knowledge of the field of public sector governance; understanding of the dynamic nature of international development and appreciation of the variety and relevance of various actors that comprise this market. Responsibilities: • Manage and grow a portfolio of development projects that currently generates $10 million/year in gross profit. • Develop and execute a business plan to expand DAI’s work in good governance with new clients and in concert with DAI’s network of international offices and staff. • Grow overall revenue and gross profit in line with business plan projections. |
| Basic Qualifications: |
| • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; advanced degree preferred. • Ten+ years of relevant business and relevant senior management experience; international experience required. • Familiarity and experience with public sector governance issues in developing countries. • Proven management and business development skills. • Professional contacts with donors, partners, and experts in the field. • Ability to bring new approaches to development, including ideas for partnering with the private sector and other relatively new actors in the development space, applications of new technologies to package and sell solutions and support project implementation, and development of solutions that integrate the various capabilities that exist in the sector. |
