Behavior Change Communication Advisor

MSH seeks a Behavior Change Communication (BCC) Advisor for a maternal and child health/health systems strengthening project in Pakistan. This project aims to strengthen health service delivery; reinforce the leadership, management, and governance practices of the health sector’s stewards; build the capacity of the workforce; and institute quality of care standards required to make superior health services available to as much of the population as possible.

The BCC Advisor is the Project’s lead expert providing leadership and technical assistance in behavior change communication and leading communication initiatives to implement better public health services to members of the served communities.  Working with the Community Mobilization Advisor, he or she identifies community partners and maintains an active network of community-based and other local and national organizations with whom the project can partner to increase awareness of, and access to, maternal, newborn, and child health care services.   In collaboration with the Family Planning/Reproductive Health Advisor and the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Advisor, the BCC Advisor provides expertise on developing training and capacity building support materials for health service providers (including nurses and lady health workers), Ministry of Health staff, and other local partners.

This position will either be based in Islamabad or at another location in Pakistan.

 

Relocation assistance and allowances are not available.

 

This position is contingent upon funding.

 

QUALIFICATIONS   

  1. Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or related degree relevant to the broad areas of BCC. 
  2. Significant experience pretesting, designing, implementing, and managing large, complex, BCC and/or health promotion programs in a variety of media and for various target audiences.
  3. Experience working within government health structures or in close collaboration with Ministries of Health.
  4. Demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and in managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and in meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
  5. Strategic thinker with people skills and managerial, coordination, and organizational skills.
  6. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  7. Available to travel within Pakistan as needed.
