CHF is seeking a Humanitarian Assistance Specialist  to join the Humanitarian Assistance Department within the Office of Business Development.  This position reports to the Director of Humanitarian Assistance.  This position is based in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The Senior Humanitarian Assistance Specialist is responsible for coordinating CHF’s response to and preparedness for humanitarian crises; leading program development efforts related to humanitarian assistance; developing CHF’s institutional capacity to respond to emergencies; and representing CHF in relevant humanitarian coordination forums.  The Senior Humanitarian Assistance Specialist is expected to contribute substantially to the development and implementation of the overall CHF humanitarian assistance strategy. The Senior Humanitarian Assistance Specialist will assist in developing internal capacity and strategic thinking on urbanization and global climate change within the humanitarian assistance context.

Required Skills

- Masters degree preferred – Degree in Humanitarian Assistance or Development Studies
- 5+ years working in humanitarian emergency response
- Experience designing and managing disaster response and recovery activities
- Experience working with USG and UN funded programs
- Fluency in English required; Fluency in a second language preferred (French or Arabic)
- Knowledge of international development program methodologies; monitoring and evaluation technologies; and grants administration
- Ability to mobilize with short notice to challenging and insecure environments
- Willingness to travel up to 30%
- Excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills
- US work authorization required
