The ABA Rule of Law Initiative is currently recruiting Legal Specialists on narcotics and transnational crime for ongoing programs in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Recruitment is for short- and long-term positions in Guatemala and Belize, for both paid and volunteer positions.
Potential duties may include one or more of the following: design of training curricula, and implementation of training activities, regarding the investigation, prosecution and adjudication of narcotics and transnational crime. Topics will include organized crime, criminal syndicate organizations, money laundering, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. Trainings will be conducted for justice sector operators including prosecutors and other attorneys, judges, and police, as well as law schools.
Applicants must have a law degree and relevant legal experience, as well as professional fluency in English for Belize and Spanish for Guatemala.
Pro bono legal specialist travel and housing is provided and all Legal Specialists receive modest allowances for meals and incidental expenses (in the case of service beyond 3 months, insurance will be provided). Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
