Water and Sanitation

AusAID, the Australian Government's Agency for International Development, seeks an experienced and innovative Senior Program Manager to manage a new multi-million dollar Water and Sanitation program in Africa. The program, currently being designed, is expected to provide support to the national water and sanitation sector investment plans of selected sub-Saharan countries, and contribute to knowledge dissemination across Africa through partnerships with international and regional agencies. Based in the Australian High Commission in Pretoria, the successful candidate will be engaged as a non-ongoing employee for two years, with the possibility of an extension.
Key responsibilities: • Finalise the design and manage Australia's new Africa Water and Sanitation Program • Provide sectoral policy advice to AusAID and implementing partners on Program development and quality assessment • Liaise and maintain effective relationships with government and non-government stakeholders and other international development organisations working in the sector • Be responsible for contractual and financial management of the Program and related activities • Produce reports, sectoral policy papers, briefs and media releases related to the Program.
Selection criteria: • Significant experience (minimum 8-10 years) in aid program management and delivery in the water and sanitation sector in Africa, with strong analytical, policy development and technical expertise • Highly effective representation, interpersonal and communication skills (Portuguese is considered desirable, although not essential) • Strong experience in managing a large sectoral program, including people, resources, project and financial management • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
An experience-based salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
