The United States Peace Corps is seeking applications from all qualified US citizen candidates for one (1) Temporary 4-6 month Paid Internship and/or Short-Term Operations Assistant (not to exceed 4-6 months) at the Office of Global Health and HIV (OGH/H), starting March 2012.

Introduction to the Office of Global Health and HIV at the United States Peace Corps:
The Office of Global Health and HIV (OGH/H) provides management and strategic guidance for Peace Corps global health activities, which includes provision of agency-level policy guidance, and general supervision, direction, and coordination of Peace Corps HIV/AIDS activities. OGH/H is responsible for coordinating the agency s participation in the President s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which is led by the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) in the U.S. State Department. The full-time staff in OGH/H work closely with the Peace Corps Regional offices, the Office of Programming and Training Support (OPATS), the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and all other offices involved in global health HIV/AIDS to support the agency s priorities of quality growth, innovation, and the Third Goal.
The intern will be working under the direction of the Chief of Management and Operations, Office of Global Health and HIV, and will have the opportunity to work across a variety of program/monitoring and evaluation, budgetary and operations, and other public health special projects. Major Duty Areas (subject to change by supervisor):
Independent Background Research and Data Analysis (Qualitative and Quantitative) 50%
Develops and maintains data entry, recording, and analysis tools to retain materials needed to respond to requests from within and outside the Agency. Independently responds to in-depth requests for information from internal and external clients. Provide operational data analysis on indicators for programmatic performance as well as assisting with overlay of basic financial data. The intern will perform accurate data entry, clean and validate data; assist with the design of M&E tools and data definition sheets for indicators.
Program Services and Support 25%
Independently completes special research requests. Exchanges and develops information, resolves discrepancies, and makes recommendations about conflicting program-related materials. Collects program information from technical specialists, enters it into a variety of electronic information systems, searches for related information, and retrieves all relevant data. Consolidates the information into presentation format.
Communication, Collaboration, and/or Liaison Work 25%
Maintains relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and others within the work unit that is recognized as contributing to the effectiveness of the work unit by functioning as a team member wherever possible, as indicated by feedback from co-workers and supervisors. The employee can be relied upon to be courteous and tactful, which creates a productive climate.
