Title: Program Associate Division: Civil Society Division Reports to: Senior Development Officer Location: Washington, DC About IREX IREX is an international nonprofit organization providing leadership and innovative programs to improve the quality of education, strengthen independent media, and foster pluralistic civil society development. Summary of Position The Program Associate plays an important role in supporting the civil society division’s activity. This position will involve an equal mix of support for programs and new business development. The position will participate in proposal teams as they prepare and submit new funding proposals: coordination of proposal content, design, budgets, and calendars. He/she will also provide support for existing programs. The division has a mix of programs in youth and gender development, peace-building, advocacy, and NGO capacity building in a variety of developing countries around the world. For more details on existing civil society programs, please refer to the IREX website (). This is an entry-level position with the possibility for growth and promotion. The position offers unique insight into program design and new business development practices. Organized, creative thinkers with good writing skills will find opportunities to take on increasing responsibilities and introduce innovations. Principle Responsibilities • Coordinating proposal processes under supervision of Development Officers • Tracking development opportunities • Managing multiple proposal deadlines • Administrative support of programs • Communication and support of field staff. • Processing and maintenance of financial records. Qualifications • Experience with and/or interest in international development. Previous project management and/or new business development preferred • Demonstrated organizational, project management, and budgeting skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong self-motivation • Excellent writing and editing skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Strong attention to detail • Strong computer skills, including Excel • Experience living abroad and/or working on international programs • Foreign language, preferred • Bachelor’s degree required To Apply Please apply online at our JOB BOARD at .
