The United States Peace Corps is seeking applications from all qualified US citizen candidates for the position of PROGRAM SPECIALIST (HEALTH) in the Office of Global Health and HIV (OGH/H).

This position is located in the Peace Corps, Office of Global Health and HIV (OGH/H), and works under the direction of the Director of OGH/H, under the supervision of the OGH/H Chief of Programming and Training. The Office of Global Health and HIV (OGH/H) provides management and strategic guidance for Peace Corps global health activities, which includes provision of agency-level policy guidance, and general supervision, direction, and coordination of Peace Corps HIV/AIDS and Health Sector activities. OGH/H is responsible for coordinating the agency s participation in the President s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which is led by the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) in the U.S. State Department. The full-time staff in OGH/H work closely with the Peace Corps Regional offices, the Office of Programming and Training Support (OPATS), the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and all other offices involved in health sector programming and training to support the agency s priorities of quality growth, innovation, and the Third Goal.

The OGH/H Program Specialist for Health will provide expert guidance and technical assistance to Peace Corps operations abroad in all areas of health. The incumbent will be an integral part of a diverse team of health and HIV program specialists in support of the global health agenda and operations of Peace Corps Posts and Volunteers around the world. S/he will provide program guidance and oversight, develop relevant training materials, and undertake program evaluation for Peace Corps health projects globally, specifically focusing on public health areas outside of HIV but expected to work with the team in integrating the work and agenda of HIV into all aspects of health, as appropriate. As part of the Programming and Training team, the incumbent will provide a global perspective on high quality and high impact health programming, share developing themes and trends, and promote innovation in public health work by Peace Corps post and Peace Corps Volunteers.

Substantial experience in public health (especially in areas of global health outside of HIV/AIDS) is desirable; minimum of two years of relevant public health programs management and/or graduate studies in public health, and/or equivalent combination thereof, is required for this position. Excellent writing, management, and team work skills and experience are desired.
