Resettlement Manager

London Mining is re-opening Marampa Iron Ore Mine in Sierra Leone after 35 years.  We are looking for a full-time Resettlement Manager to manage the Project’s resettlement requirements, to be based on site at Marampa in Sierra Leone.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Manager RAP contractors and monitor their progress of against contractual milestones through regular programme of meetings and visits.
  • Manage process of implementation of RAP, in accordance with the detailed plans developed.
  • Establish and support Resettlement Sub-Committee that oversees the resettlement process under the aegis of the Steering Committee
  • Document resettlement processes to date at 4 relocation villages along the haul road.
  • Assess requirement for a Livelihood Restoration Programme where necessary; and implement if required.
  • Establish a programme of livelihood monitoring.
  • Manage 2 Resettlement Field Officers.
  • Cover for other Community Relations Department managers as required.
  • Prepare weekly work plans
  • Attend regular department meetings
  • Write weekly and monthly progress/activity reports as required.

 

 Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant subject area (social sciences or livelihood-related e.g. agriculture).
  • Familiarity with international best practise on resettlement, especially the IFC Performance Standard 5.
  • Experience of resettlement in practise.
  • African experience; and preferably in West Africa.
  • Line management of staff.

 

The successful applicant will be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative, with a proven ability to develop relationships with people at all levels.  He/she should be a strong communicator with high levels of energy and diplomacy.
