Senior Leadership Openings in Haiti

CARE | Apply By 09 August 2010

Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, CARE Haiti launched a substantial response effort including immediate relief, transition, and long-term recovery services. The response to the earthquake necessitates fundamental rethinking of CARE country office’s programming in Haiti, including expansion into new program and geographic areas, new policy and advocacy, new partnerships, and a significant increase in the overall scope of CARE’s work in Haiti.

At the same time, it is important to maintain and build upon CARE’s existing long-term programming in Haiti and integrate it with new programming resulting from the earthquake to maximize CARE’s overall impact on its program target groups.

As a result, CARE Haiti is recruiting for two Senior Leadership positions – a Senior Assistant Country Director (ACD) for Program Quality and a Country Director.  Responsibilities of these key positions include:

  • Working closely with the CARE Haiti leadership team to further develop transition, recovery and long-term development program strategies;
  • Ensuring that all CARE programs in Haiti incorporate gender, disaster risk reduction, governance and accountability approaches;
  • Promoting innovation, learning and knowledge sharing;
  • Promoting effective teamwork and partnership, both within the organization and externally;
  • Establishing effective management and support structures and systems for a complex, integrated and growing program to ensure effective management of financial and other resources, compliance with policies and regulations, and staff safety and security

General Requirements:

  • Proven track record and experience leading large and complex humanitarian and development programs;
  • Knowledge and experience of humanitarian and development policy and advocacy in complex settings;
  • Excellent leadership, management, representation, teamwork and interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Fluency in French
