Communications Director Devex seeks an ambitious, networked, and entrepreneurial communications professional to build a new communications department at Devex as Communications Director. This position is based in our Washington, DC headquarters and is a management-level position. The Communications Director will have primary responsibility for ensuring that Devex is widely known in the international development community and, particularly, among senior officials and executives. This is a management level position at a young, growing organization. It is perfect for a communications professional who has cut their teeth at a PR firm or media company, built a solid network of contacts by working at a leading international development institution, and is ready to grow into a leadership position at a social enterprise. This is a mid-to-senior level position ideal for someone with at least 5 years work experience. We are seeking a professional who is bright, eager, has strong interpersonal skills, excellent writing abilities, and a keen interest in taking their career in international development to the next level. A high attention to detail and a strong sense of personal initiative are critical to succeed in this role. Compensation is competitive, there are two direct reports (and perhaps more in the future), and the position reports directly to the President of Devex. Responsibilities: Develop and coordinate communications strategy across the enterprise Secure interviews with top leaders and development celebrities for our website Secure opinion pieces from experts and officials for our website Develop content partnerships with major publications, think-tanks, and websites relevant to our community Promote Devex as a media sponsor for relevant events Oversee Devex events as the supervisor of the Events Manager Ensure Devex is represented on panels and in speaking roles at major conferences and events Build relationships with publications to encourage coverage of Devex Place opinion pieces from Devex executives Increase inbound links to Devex website Educate Devex community about new features on Organize webinars for our members Generate comments and online networking on Upkeep and develop Devex presence on social media sites Requirements: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Talent for writing high-quality professional correspondence Capacity to work independently and as part of a global, multi-cultural team Ability to set goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced working environment A strong work ethic, positive attitude, high attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a sense of urgency Facility with web technologies and strong interest in learning more Minimum Qualifications: Strong network of high-level connections in the international development, humanitarian aid, and global health community 5+ years relevant work experience Bachelors degree in a related field US work authorization Preferred Qualifications: Extremely well-networked and connected in this community Experience as a communications professional for a leading international development institution Strong knowledge of international development High grade point average from a well-regarded university program High-level of computer literacy Strong familiarity with social media International experience Application Instructions: Click on the “Apply Now” button to send your application.
