dTS is currently recruiting for a Team Leader to direct the services required to develop a Healthcare Waste Management Plan and Monitoring Guidance for USAID/Kenya health programs.
The Team Leader will provide technical leadership and guide team to:
(a) Review and summarize in an accessible format USG, GOK and WHO requirements, procedures and regulations for medical waste management.
(b) Review USAID/Kenya health program activities and those of other stakeholders (GOK, private sector and NGOs) also providing services at USAID project sites to understand conditions and situations of healthcare waste generation and stakeholder approaches to waste management.
(c) Conduct random sample field visits to assess the overall capabilities and limitations of USAID partners’ healthcare waste management plans and practices relative to other stakeholders.
(d) Define the extent of USAID/Kenya’s partner’s responsibility in managing healthcare generated waste at each program site and health facility, as outlined in the guidance in Annex I, with the express goal of promoting responsible practices.
(e) Develop a Healthcare Waste Management Plan for USAID funded activities in Kenya to be applied at each program site.
(f) Develop a monitoring checklist to be used by USAID project managers and monitors on site visits.
Qualifications:
a) At least 10 years of continuous responsible experience in healthcare waste management and/or consulting;
b) Strong professional background in conducting healthcare waste management assessments, developing healthcare waste management plans and developing monitoring plans;
c) Familiarity with national, regional and international healthcare waste management regulations with special emphasis on 22CFR216, ADS 204, GOK and WHO regulations, requirements and procedures on healthcare waste management.
