Euroconsult Mott MacDonald is positioning itself for the “Main River Flood and Bank Erosion Risk Management Program” (PPTA) in Bangladesh. For this project, we are currently looking for a Team Leader / River Management Specialist. This expert will have a fulltime input of 6 months in the second half of 2012

Project Objective and Purpose
The Main River Flood and Bank Erosion Risk Management Program is the follow-up project of the Jamuna-Meghna River Erosion Mitigation Project (JMREMP), and aims to sustain incomes and livelihoods of people in the project area along the three main rivers of Bangladesh – the Jamuna, the Ganges, and the Padma. It will enhance resilience to flood and riverbank erosion risks through strengthening the flood and riverbank erosion management system including the knowledge base and underlying institutions, coupled with establishing integrated non-structural and structural risk management measures at priority erosion sites and their sustainability. The proposed program will replicate and expand experience and good practices acquired through the JMREMP to other river reaches, with necessary improvement. 

The project preparatory technical assistance (PPTA) is provided to prepare the proposed program.

Qualifications and skills
- a graduate degree, preferably a post graduate degree, in civil engineering or equivalent professional qualifications
- a broad knowledge of flood/erosion protection management, river engineering, institutional set up for river management, stakeholder participation and safeguard issues including environment, resettlement and land acquisition

General and Specific professional experience
- At least 20 years of professional work experience
- At least 15 years of international professional experience in preparing and/or implementing flood/ riverbank erosion protection management projects including the main rivers in Bangladesh or major rivers with similar nature
- Work experience in developing countries leading a multidisciplinary international consultant team
- Experience in project preparation for external funding agencies, preferably ADB
