Technical Specialist

The QED Group, LLC is seeking a Technical Specialist, a full-time mid level position based at QED’s office in Washington DC. The ideal candidate will have a unique combination of a technical background in agriculture, value chains, food security, BDS, micro/SME development, capacity-building or related economic growth expertise, and stellar ability to write relevant technical sections of US government (USG) proposals. The individual will preferably have a background in Communications and will have exceptional skills in writing technical proposals across all international development areas to include Economic Growth and Democracy and Governance. In addition, the candidate will have at least a Master’s Degree in international development, international relations, agriculture economics or related field, understanding of international development and familiarity with international donor programs such as USAID.

This position is ideal for an individual with good technical knowledge and superior writing skills who is an excellent problem solver and is interested in building a career in international development with a growing firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write relevant technical proposal sections including description of technical approaches and corporate capability statements, while adhering strictly to proposal requirements. Technical proposal writing skills to include topics across all international development and other areas as assigned.
  •  Coordinate proposal development efforts, while ensuring accuracy, proposal compliance, and adherence to strict timeframes.
  • Liaise with partners and key personnel.
  • Represent QED qualifications and interests in partner meetings and public fora.
  • Serve as QED staff technical advisor on ongoing projects in relevant technical areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Economic Growth Practice Leader.

Key Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, economics, international development, communications or related field and at least 5 years of international development experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years USG proposal writing experience required (preferably USAID).
  • Technical knowledge of economic growth topics (e.g agriculture, food security, value chains, food security, BDS, micro/SME development, capacity-building) in developing country contexts, with preferably at least 3 years of hands on international development field experience.
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to manage complex activities, prioritize workload and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Fluent oral and written English required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex activities, prioritize workload, and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical depth of key economic growth topics in written technical proposals.
  • Experience working with USAID programs required.
  • Experience developing USG proposal budgets a plus.
