Mobile Ultrasound Machines: Saving Rural Mothers

One of the Millennium Development Goals is to reduce the very high rate of maternal mortality and a large percentage could be prevented if women were able to get an ultrasound and diagnosis early enough to get to the hospital for delivery, says Andrew Haring, international counsel for SonoSite Inc. The company has developed a hand-held ultrasound machine used by military and development professionals.
