The European Commission has earmarked 40 million euros (US$53 million) to promote sustainable natural resource management and other environmental initiatives in the Pacific.

UPDATE, 21 SEPTEMBER 2009:

A representative of the AIDCO of the European Commission stated that commission has reviewed the mid-term strategy and that some of the projects will be approved by the end of 2009.
