The European Union has allotted US$ 1.5 billion for the next three years for trade support initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa. According to preliminary information gathered by The Development Executive Group, the program may open up opportunities in trade negotiation capacity improvement, export and trade facilitation, and market development.
UPDATE, 19 August 2010: The EU’s trade-related assistance is focused on integrating African states into the multilateral trading system of the World Trade Organization, supporting the preparation of economic partnership agreements, and establishing the Tradecom facility.
