Devex has obtained vital information that will likely make up the EU Country Strategy Paper for Mauritania covering 2008-2013. Mr. Geza Strammer, the Chargé d’Affaires in the Delegation of the European Commission in Mauritania, revealed in an interview that the mission will undertake infrastructure, governance, and financial management initiatives starting 2009. The projects are expected to cost a total of EUR 156 million (US$ 228 million).
UPDATE, 09 March 2009: Geza Strammer told Devex that the commission has suspended its cooperation with Mauritania following the coup d’etat last August 2008.
