Additional Financing for HIV/AIDS Project in Malawi

Project Summary

The additional financing will cover the costs for the expansion of the activities under the original project, the Multi-Sectoral HIV/AIDS Project.  This will finance a further three-year time slice of a national program.

The tentative cost of the additional financing is US$30 million, which will be provided through an IDA Grant.  The National AIDS Commission will serve as the implementing agency of the project.

UPDATE:

1 September 2009

The additional financing has been approved by the Board on 27 August 2009.  The closing date is not expected until 30 September 2012.

The total cost of the additional financing is around US$ 244.3 million.
