Community-Based Poverty Reduction Project (CPRP) in Nigeria

General Information

Project Summary

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the National Planning Commission (NPC), states, local governments and communities in an effort to promote sustainable livelihoods in Nigeria. This will done through demand-driven sub-projects, designed to the Poor’s access to social services, in twelve of Nigeria’s poorest states. The project will also accelerate HIV/AIDS and malaria prevention activities. The project has the following 2 components: Component I-Support to National Planning Commission (federal level) This component will support 5 subcomponents, namely: i) Poverty policy and poverty monitoring; ii) Advocacy and awareness of poverty issues and integration of HIV/AIDS and malaria control into all poverty reduction activities; iii) Capacity building at state and local levels for poverty reduction; iv) Monitoring and evaluation of project progress and impact; and v) Preparation activities for additional states. Component II-Support to State-level Social Fund Agencies. This component will support the twelve state-level social fund agencies. The total estimated project cost is US$ 107.025 Million (UA 71.35 Million), out of which US$ 30 Million (UA 20 Million) will be financed by the African Development Bank, US$ 60 Million (UA 44.87 Million) by the World Bank.
