The European Commission plans to provide about 58 million euros (US$75.7 million) for environmental protection and risk prevention in the Baltic Sea region. This forms part of the 2007-2013 European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument for cross-border cooperation which is mainly funded through the European Regional Development Fund.
