Top USAID Private Sector Partners: A Primer
The U.S. Agency for International Development regularly taps the private sector to deliver assistance abroad. Which companies have received the largest share? Here’s our top 20, based on USAID data.
The World Bank announced a new Country Assistance Strategy for Belarus for the period of 2008-2011, which aims to allocate approximately US$100 million annually over the four-year period. Funding will be provided in the form of term loans to support Belarus in addressing global environmental and energy challenges and enhancing its economic competitiveness. Based on The Development Executive Group’s preliminary research, the CAS will focus on boosting investments in the areas of infrastructure development, municipal services and environmental protection. Initiatives in these areas will likely pave the way for consultancy, goods and works opportunities related to energy, water and sanitation. The first priority for 2008 will be the implementation of an infrastructure development project in the water sector.
UPDATE, 29 January 2009: Projects on water supply and sanitation, and energy efficiency were announced in 2008. The water and sanitation initiative was approved on September 2008.
UPDATE, 18 June 2010: The integrated solid waste management was approved last 17 June 2010.
